Island Festival 2012
A few years have passed since the last Island Festival, time again! On March 3rd Gulf
Beaches Historical Museum plays host to an Island Culture that can only be found in our south beach communities.
Enjoy music from New Horizons
Band. The band is a national program at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Eckerd
College that encourages people in the community to pick up an instrument and learn to play in a group.
The
Florida Suncoast MG Car Club will show collectors cars. The Florida Suncoast MG Car Club organized
in 1980, is the most active British car club in the Tampa Bay area.
Sample the offerings at the market in the park. Artisans,
crafters, and collectors will display their wares, including African and Seminole products, jewelry, wood carvings, hand painted
dog collars, hand-knit scarves, gourmet instant coffee, plants, and much more.
There will be costumed docents leading tours of the surrounding
historic district, local authors signing books and a used book sale. Inside the museum a scavenger
hunt with prizes for kids age 9 and under. Special character appearances by legendary hermit Silas Dent
and Pirates to accompany the new Treasure Island exhibit.
